New York CDL Study Guide

New York issues Commercial Driver Licenses (CDLs) through the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). You study the New York Commercial Driver's Manual (CDL-10), apply for a Commercial Learner Permit (CLP) at a DMV office, pass written knowledge tests, hold the CLP at least 14 days, complete federally required Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT), then pass the road skills test. New York has a special Young Adult Training Program for drivers 18-20 who want a Class A intrastate CDL.
