CDL Road Signs Study Guide
Federal road signs follow the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Most state CDL exams include a road-sign section that tests shapes, colors, and meanings.
Sign categories
- Regulatory (white/red/black) — Stop, Yield, speed limits, no-entry.
- Warning (yellow/black diamond) — Curve, bump, crossing, merge ahead.
- Construction (orange) — Work zone, flagger ahead, lane closed.
- Guide (green) — Distance markers, exit information.
- Service (blue) — Hospital, food, fuel, weigh station.
- Recreation (brown) — Parks, scenic routes.
- School (pentagon, fluorescent yellow-green) — School crossing, zone.
