How to Get a Wyoming CDL
Getting a Wyoming CDL takes several steps. You will need a regular driver license first, a DOT medical exam, federal Entry-Level Driver Training, and you must pass both knowledge and skills tests. Plan for the process to take several weeks.
- Hold a valid Wyoming noncommercial driver license.
- Complete a DOT medical exam and submit your Medical Examineru0027s Certificate to WYDOT Driver Services.
- Complete federal Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) with a provider on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry.
- Study the Wyoming CDL Manual (October 2024).
- Visit a WYDOT Driver Services office, pay the $45 CLP fee, and pass the free knowledge tests.
- Hold the CLP for at least 14 days before taking the skills test.
- Practice driving with a qualified CDL holder seated next to you.
- Pay the $85 skills test fee and schedule the three-part skills test: vehicle inspection, basic control skills, and the road test.
- Pay the $55 CDL fee and receive your Wyoming Commercial Driver License.
